5 things you must learn from Lord Ganesha.

Lord Ganesha, the Elephant God, is not only the Lord of Beginnings and Remover of Obstacles, but also a teacher if you pay close attention to the tales of Hindu mythology. Also known as Ekdant, his anecdotes form an integral part of Hindu mythology and impart great life lessons to his followers. We can all learn a thing or two about life from these tales: 1. Duty is above all else It is believed that Goddess Parvati created Lord Ganesha by carving out a boy's idol from turmeric paste and breathing life into it, in the absence of Lord Shiva. She told the boy to guard the door while she bathed, and he obediently followed his mother's instructions. Around the same time, Lord Shiva returned from his expedition, and demanded entry into Parvati's bathing area--which Lord Ganesha refused. The event turned into a fight between the father and the son, and ended with Ganesha being beheaded. Later, Lord Shiva resurrected the boy after placing an elephant's head on his body...

Characteristics of Emotional Intelligence. How to improve it?

In his book titled "Emotional Intelligence - Why It Can Matter More Than IQ" 1995, Daniel Goleman, an American psychologist, developed a framework of five elements that define emotional intelligence: Self-Awareness  – People with high emotional intelligence are usually very self-aware   . They understand their emotions, and because of this, they don't let their feelings rule them. They're confident – because they trust their intuition and don't let their emotions get out of control. They're also willing to take an honest look at themselves. They know their strengths and weaknesses, and they work on these areas so they can perform better. Many people believe that this self-awareness is the most important part of emotional intelligence. Self-Regulation  – This is the ability to control emotions    and impulses. People who self-regulate typically don't allow themselves to become too angry or jealous, and they don't make impulsive, careless d...

How do we communicate better?

1: Only promise to do things if you can actually do them In some ways, being a “yes man” can serve you well in your career, but it’s easy to slip into the “I need to please everyone” mode and get overwhelmed. Bite off only as much as you can chew at one time. “Remember that age-old adage: Actions speak louder than words,” says Yvonne Thomas, a Los Angeles-based psychologist who specializes in career issues. “Be consistent in doing what you say and saying what you do.” If you say you’re going to finish a PowerPoint presentation by Friday, do it. If you can’t do it, don’t commit. It’s better to say no to something upfront than fail to complete the assignment. “This is critical in business because you gain credibility, trust and respect on the job,” Thomas says. 2: Don’t wait until you feel overwhelmed As much as you adopt the advice from Resolution No. 1, you’re likely still going to be overworked at times. (Such is life in the working world.) That makes communicating when ...

Why Is Critical Thinking Important?

When answering the question,  “What is critical thinking?”  it’s important to also discuss why it’s so important. While cultivating a healthy set of personal values is important, so too is the ability to keep an open mind. Critical thinking skills encourage us to operate without prejudice or bias, to keep the facts straight, and to arrive at logical, fact-based solutions. The most valuable aspect of critical thinking is its transferability. Critical thinking skills are fluid and versatile. They can easily be transported between professions, tasks, subject areas, and niches. And they can be applied and reapplied to all sorts of situations, dilemmas, and conundrums. The skill encourages self-reflection as well. It helps facilitate the examination of our own beliefs in comparison to those held by others. When we examine new ideas with a logical, objective eye, we open ourselves to entirely new worlds of beliefs, concepts and perceptions. Real World Examples: Crit...

Essential universal laws nobody taught you

The Law of Allowing After the Law of Deliberate Creation third essential Universal Law is the Law of Allowing. The Law of Allowing :   This is the principle of least action, of no resistance.              The application of the Law of Allowing will bring absolute freedom in your life. You will feel free in your relationships to be who you are. You will feel free in your career to do what you want. And you will feel free in your life to create whatever you desire.            There are two ways to apply this law. First is the way to allow others to be as they are, and second, is the way we allow (receive) from the Universe to deliver all that we desire. Let’s first look at allowing others to be as they are. “I am that which I am. While I am that which I am, I allow others to be that which they are.” Let’s say that again, only this time, say it out loud: “I am that which I am.  While I am that...

The Law of Deliberate Creation            After the first law , second law that we must learn, understand and implement if we want to see real results is ‘The Law of Deliberate Creation’. The Law of Deliberate Creation:   That which I give thought to, I begin to attract. What I give thought to with emotion, I attract more quickly. That which you think about, you get. When you give thought to something you desire with an expectation or believe in it, you are then in the place to receive it. So, how is this different from the Law of Attraction?           The difference between the Law of Attraction and the Law of Deliberate Creation is that, the Law of Attraction is like a boomerang. Whatever we give out with our energy vibrations (thoughts, feelings, etc) we will receive back to us. The Law of Deliberate Creation is offering a vibration knowingly, so that you don’t create by default. Most of the time, unl...
